If this stretch doesn’t feel like playoff lacrosse already, it’s doing a pretty good impression!
The Falcons welcomed the Carlsbad Lancers back to Ed Burke for round two, and the energy was there from the start. JV ran into a relentless Lancers squad that came out hungry and never really let up. The Falcons battled, but fell 17–6, with all six goals coming off the stick of freshman standout #13 Isobel Brewer. Not the result they wanted, but games like this have a way of holding up a mirror. There’s still time to tighten things up, and this group has shown they’re capable of bouncing back.
Varsity, on the other hand, delivered a nail-biter that had just about everything. In a back-and-forth battle, the Falcons edged out the Lancers 12–11. This one wasn’t about a single standout performance. It was about a full team effort. The younger players are stepping into bigger moments with confidence, and the seniors are playing like, well… seniors who aren’t ready for it to end. The win pushes the Falcons into third place in the Avocado League, with two crucial games still ahead.
Then came a quick turnaround and a road trip to Poway to face the Titans.
JV found themselves in another grind-it-out game. Offense was hard to come by, but the Falcons stayed in it the whole way. A late goal by the Titans locked things at 6–6 as the final whistle blew. Not a win, not a loss, but a result that shows this team is right there, just needing a bit more consistency to tip things their way.
Varsity wasted no time setting the tone. Five goals in the first quarter. Five more in the second. At that point, the Falcons weren’t just playing well—they were dictating everything. Early and frequent substitutions gave the entire roster a chance to contribute, and they made the most of it. Dominance on the draw and control of ground balls created wave after wave of opportunity, leading to a convincing 14–3 win. Complete game. Offense clicking, defense locked in.
That victory keeps the Falcons firmly in third place in the Avocado League, with the postseason picture starting to come into focus.
Next up: San Marcos under the lights at Ed Burke on Friday, April 24. Another league matchup, and another chance to shape the playoff path.
And then… it all comes fast.
Monday is Senior Night before the matchup against Rancho Bernardo. Mt. Carmel on Wednesday. La Costa Canyon on Friday. Three games in five days to close out the regular season. It’s the kind of stretch that defines a team, and if this group has shown anything lately, it’s that they’re starting to peak at exactly the right time. Their 7-7 record and 4 wins in the last 6 games prove it.
Exciting? Absolutely.
A little bittersweet? No doubt.
But there’s still work to do!
