Back-to-Back Battles Leave Falcons Hungry for More

With the regular season winding down, the Falcons Varsity lacrosse team found themselves in two nail-biting matchups this week that tested their stamina, skill, and resolve.

On Tuesday, the squad hit the road to face San Marcos High School in a thriller that stretched into overtime. Despite a valiant effort and a relentless fourth-quarter rally, the Falcons came up just short, falling 11-12 in a heartbreaker. There was no time to dwell, though—just 2 days later, the team took the field again, this time at home against the Carlsbad Lancers. It was another down-to-the-wire duel, with lead changes and late-game drama, but the Falcons were edged out once more, 9-10.

Now sitting at 5-9, the Varsity team has five games left to turn the tide and finish the season strong. Next up: a road showdown with powerhouse Foothill High School (15-2), a team known for their speed, stick skills, and serious game. It’ll be a true test of grit—but if this week has shown us anything, it’s that the Falcons are fighters.

Meanwhile, JV is putting on a clinic in resilience and revenge. After their first and only loss of the season last week against LCC, the girls responded like champions. They took on San Marcos and came out flying, sealing a 12-8 victory. The real drama came the Thursday night against Carlsbad. Tied 6-6 at halftime, the game turned into a see-saw battle of momentum. But when it mattered most, the Falcons rose above, closing it out with an 11-8 win.

With a 10-1 record and just three games remaining, JV is soaring high. Many of these young players have varsity ambitions for next season, and they’re already putting in the work to make that leap. If this week is any indication, the future of Falcons lacrosse is looking fierce.

Stay tuned, because the season’s final chapter is shaping up to be a dramatic one.
