It was a week of highs and lows for the Torrey Pines Girls Lacrosse program as the Varsity and JV teams took the field in back-to-back matchups. While one team continued its dominance, the other is searching for answers in the face of tough competition.
Varsity Battles but Falls to St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes
The Varsity squad took on national powerhouse St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes on Tuesday evening in a highly anticipated matchup. The visiting team from Virginia showcased their strength early and never let up, handing the Falcons a tough 20-8 defeat. This marks the second consecutive loss for the Varsity team, bringing their record to 4-4 on the season.
Despite the setback, the Falcons showed flashes of brilliance, demonstrating resilience and effort against an elite opponent. Coach Kaitlin is working closely with the team to regroup and fine-tune their strategy as they prepare for another big challenge—Loyola—this Friday night. With their talent and determination, the Falcons are looking to bounce back and get back in the win column.
JV Stays Undefeated with a Commanding Win
On the JV side, the Falcons continued their reign of dominance, extending their winning streak to seven games with a convincing 13-2 victory over Del Norte High School. The game started off as a defensive battle, with both teams managing just one goal apiece in the first quarter. But once the Falcons found their rhythm, there was no stopping them. They unleashed an offensive onslaught, netting 12 more goals and leaving no doubt about their strength this season. Leading the charge was Freshman Marina Geringer with 4 goals and 4 ground balls fielded, and Sophomore Jordan Jackson and Freshman Captain Cici Rimer with 2 goals a piece. Dominating the draw was Freshman Piper Dohrenwend with 7 controls.
Coach Alayna has done an incredible job motivating the JV squad, and it’s clear that this team is firing on all cylinders. With an unblemished 7-0 record, the Falcons are eager to take on Cathedral Catholic in a much-anticipated rematch this Friday night. Expect intensity, passion, and a team ready to prove itself yet again.

Looking Ahead
As the season progresses, both teams have defining moments ahead. Varsity is focused on turning things around and showing their grit against Loyola, while JV aims to continue their winning ways. No matter the outcome, one thing is certain—Falcons Girls Lacrosse is a program built on heart, determination, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
